What is the platform fee and how is GST added?
See the fee H4B takes on online payments for each plan, how 18% GST is added on the fee, and where to find it on the Payouts page and your invoices.
Last updated
When a customer pays you online, H4B keeps a small platform fee and the rest goes to your bank account. The fee is a percentage that depends on your plan, and 18% GST is added on top of the fee.
The fee for each plan#
| Plan | Fee on online payments |
|---|---|
| Free | 5% + GST |
| Pro | 4% + GST |
| Scale | 2% + GST |
The app writes this as, for example, "4% + GST". The GST is charged on the fee only, not on the customer's whole payment.
Example only#
This is an example to show the maths, not a real payment. A customer pays ₹10,000 online on the Pro plan.
- Platform fee: 4% of ₹10,000 = ₹400
- GST on the fee: 18% of ₹400 = ₹72
- Total withheld: ₹472
- Paid out to you: ₹9,528
Where you see it#
- Payouts page: tap Details on a payment. Under Amount breakup you see Gross collected, the Platform fee (with its percentage) and your Net payout.
- Monthly fee invoice: once a month, H4B issues one tax invoice for the fees withheld in the previous month. Find it in Settings → Billing → Invoices, where you can download the PDF. Make sure your billing details are saved there, as invoices need them.
Good to know#
- Cash on delivery orders have no platform fee.
- Online payments only start once your bank account is verified. See Connect your bank account for payouts.
- Your plan's subscription price is separate from this fee. Plan prices are shown before GST. See Change or cancel your plan.
- Real payments are worked out to the paisa, so the exact figures on your Payouts page can differ slightly from a round example.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a fee on cash on delivery orders?
No. The platform fee applies to online payments. With cash on delivery, no money moves through H4B, so no fee is taken.
Do I pay this fee if I use my own payment gateway?
No. When you collect through your own gateway, H4B does not process the payment or take this fee. Your gateway's own fees apply.
